New Scoliosis Treatment Now Available at Our Royal Oak Physical Therapy Clinic

by Leanna Beatty

At Michigan Orthopaedic Surgeons, we are proud to continue expanding specialized care options for our patients. Our Royal Oak Physical Therapy clinic now offers Rigo Concept–based scoliosis treatment, a personalized and non-surgical approach designed to help individuals manage scoliosis and related spinal conditions through specialized physical therapy.

This innovative treatment is now available with Wendy Holdan, PT, MSPT, a highly experienced physical therapist with more than 20 years of expertise in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation.

What Is the Rigo Concept?

The Rigo Concept is an advanced scoliosis-specific exercise method developed through the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS). This evidence-based approach focuses on treating scoliosis and spinal deformities through individualized exercise programs, posture correction, and guided expansion techniques.

Unlike generalized exercise programs, the Rigo Concept is customized to each patient’s unique spinal curve pattern and physical presentation. Treatment plans are carefully designed to help improve posture, support spinal alignment, reduce discomfort, and promote more efficient movement during daily activities.

The Rigo Concept is commonly used as a non-surgical scoliosis treatment option for both adolescents and adults and may also complement bracing or other physician-directed care plans.
