Peter Donaldson, M.D. is board certified in sports medicine and emergency medicine. He specializes in sports related injuries and sees athletes and active individuals of all ages.

Following undergraduate studies at Boston College and Oxford University in England and a post-baccalaureate at Princeton University, Dr. Donaldson earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine.  He completed his residency training in emergency medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  He then served as assistant chief of the division of emergency medicine at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine.  He returned to metropolitan Detroit where he completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Providence Hospital.

Dr Donaldson has worked as a United States Team Physician for the 2024 Youth Olympic Games in Korea, the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, England, the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.  He has worked at the U.S. Olympic Training Centers in Colorado Springs and Lake Placid, New York.  He serves as a physician for USA Hockey and has worked with the under 20 U.S. men’s national team and the gold medal winning 2010 sled hockey team.  Locally, Dr. Donaldson has acted as a team physician for Oakland University, the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League, as well as several local area high schools and has covered numerous sporting events.

Dr. Donaldson is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

He is an assistant professor at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and is on staff at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
